A Laker 140B which certainly has been used but remains fully functional and fishable. I really like the drag system on the Laker Models 140, 140A and 140B. The shaft on the drag knob is designed as a cam which applies pressure or lack of to the drag bar. The drag is not adjustable beyond the cam function but seems to work well if reel is clean on these models. Johnson changed the drag system a bit on the later Laker II Model 140C reels to be adjustable the same as Century or Citation drag systems. Also on this model, although I haven't seen any schematics to confirm it, it appears Johnson moved away from the earlier multi point pick up rotors they used on the 140 and 140A models to the more common single pin pickup rotor like they used on the Laker II Model 140C. In catalogs Johnson referred to the multiple point rotors for their 140 and 140A models but in catalog descriptions of the 140B, that is no longer mentioned.
