Gary, glad the pics were of use. And I like your insight on that clip on the drag! Seems pretty logical as to why.

Timmy, sorry to hear about all of that bad stuff going on! Will keep you and your family in my prayers! Especially your wife and her battle with cancer! I am a 45 year survivor so know it can be beaten with the help of the good Lord! You have a ton of knowledge about Johnson stuff and I do miss your insight!

Thanks Gary for contacting the owner. How much is the cost to keep it going? If I send to you the money, I assume you will pay him when needed. One question I have is I gather he is not the fixer of issues on our site.

I am a good tech user but not a good tech fixer. I wouldn't have a clue on how to deal with coding issues. I agree that if we can separate our site away from the group that Al's friend, that would be huge to have absolute control. As JP said. too good of a site to lose. Dennis, if David would like to explore that, can you provide the guy's name and contact info? I would be most happy to support whatever costs might be involved to do this. Having worked with tech companies in my career, I am fairly positive Bluehost would provide assistance in helping to fix issues. As a host, they normally provide some kind of support.

I agree Tim!. I love all of the US made Johnson's but think the Sidewinders are the coolest! Mainly because you can really see the engineering improvements over a short time span on these reels from model to model. A 40th anniversary model 10 would have been outstanding!!

Here is a nicer one than the previous one I posted. On this one, when I tightened the drag screw, the brass retaining washer came off inside. Kind of a job to get it back on as it is very small. Since it is a press on, I first flattened it and then managed using some needle nose pliers, to push it back on.

Model 131 (1971-1980) / Re: Johnson Sabra 131« on: March 15, 2023, 10:59:54 AM »
Gary, I sold this reel so can't take another look at it. But in looking at the second of my pictures, I am guessing no. On the bottom side of the inside you can see a nipple sticking up. I didn't take a pic of the line spool back side but would guess there is a hole that this fits into. On a 130B, the frame does not have this nipple and line spool screws in. Couldn't do that with a nipple sticking up.

Only certain ones came with the Johnson bag included in the box. Sabras for one and a few others. Many times you would see Johnson bags listed by themselves on eBay and I would buy a bunch over time. For my reels without the box that came with them, while you can use any bag, I prefer to use the green felt Johnson bag to store Johnson reels in. My quirk I guess! The one Johnson bag I came across that wasn't green was blue. I have no idea why that color or what Johnson reel it was issued with.
