Wanted / Re: Citation 110B Gears

That one piece you have circled has nothing to do with the gears.  Part number 11B19 (126) on later versions of the reel.
That is the Anti-Reverse Control Knob Retaining Snap Ring.  It's on the outside of the bearing side plate and not on the inside with the gears

Skip, really appreciate the info on the reel model, and look forward to hearing if parts for the older model are available in the community. Thanks again, Mike

Hi, Mike, welcome to the premier Johnson reel website!  Your Citation 110B appears to be an early 1960's model, based on the black pushbutton and black crank knob, as well as the beveled gearset.  Although I  have some Citation/Century parts, unfortunately they're mostly for late 70's models, and not compatible with your reel.  There are collectors on J.R.C.A. who will very likely have have a replacement gearset for your reel.  Replacement parts for vintage Johnson reels are no longer available from retail sources, so the collector community will be your best resource.  Best of luck refurbishing your 110B and enjoy using it!  Skip

Wanted / Citation 110B Gears
« Last post by hooverm on September 03, 2023, 10:01:00 AM »
Hello to the association. I am a new member and this looks like a great community. I'm attempting to refurbish a Johnson reel from a rod my dad built in his youth. It looks like a well built vintage reel that I'm hoping my family and I will be able to use.

Johnson 110B Citation, I'm not sure on the year but hopefully these pictures can help to identify it well enough. The reel does not crank smooth, and it appears to have a worn pinion gear. It needs some cleaning but otherwise looks to be in good condition. After putting back together it cranks smoother in 1 direction, but not the other...which appears to match the wear on the pinion.

I'm looking for both replacement gears as well as a missing washer under the crank. The gears are beveled, 12T/36T. I'd appreciate if anyone can point me in the right direction to find replacement parts for this model or another that is compatible. I included a diagram from a manual which looks fairly close to match this reel, though I'm not certain it is this one specifically. I can provide more info if needed. Many thanks, Mike

I'd be willing to help with $$$.  Tech-wise, I'm useless.

Let me know when he advises the cost so I can cover for this period.

He hasn't mentioned the costs yet.  We've only exchanged one email.  He mentioned the fact he was going to reach out because the October 1st payment is coming up.  So he was happy I beat him to the punch

Administrators on our site can perform maintenance.  And presumably would have to correct any issues

Thanks Gary for contacting the owner. How much is the cost to keep it going? If I send to you the money, I assume you will pay him when needed. One question I have is I gather he is not the fixer of issues on our site.

I have contacted the gentleman (Mark) in question by email and he responded.  I started discussions with him.
I asked various questions, threw out different ideas, etc.

He will happily keep the site alive as long as he gets the money for hosting and renewal.  Happens in October and May.  I told him I would take on that responsibility.  I consider that the first baby step.  Keeping the site alive and then continuing discussions.

It wasn't discussed, but he is not going to fund our site.  I would say that is understandable.  So if for some reason he does not receive the money from us, the site would be toast.

I gather Dennis and Mark have spoken about separating the sites.  The issue is that Bluehost can't guarantee some data wouldn't be lost.  Not only on our site, but his.
So that may present a problem and affect his motivation to separate the sites.

If someone else wants to take the lead, feel free to jump in.  The only reason I contacted him was to take it off of Dennis's plate and because no one else seemed to be stepping forward.  I don't think having a bunch of different people bombarding him is the best answer.

I have no particular interest in being the crusader, I just don't want to see the valueable information on our site lost.

Maybe a roundtable discussion on here to discuss the issue is the next best step?

I am a good tech user but not a good tech fixer. I wouldn't have a clue on how to deal with coding issues. I agree that if we can separate our site away from the group that Al's friend, that would be huge to have absolute control. As JP said. too good of a site to lose. Dennis, if David would like to explore that, can you provide the guy's name and contact info? I would be most happy to support whatever costs might be involved to do this. Having worked with tech companies in my career, I am fairly positive Bluehost would provide assistance in helping to fix issues. As a host, they normally provide some kind of support.
