Ask A Question / Re: Suggestions for a stuck spool 710A« on: June 26, 2022, 03:40:43 AM »
I usually try that same method with the screw driver at first. If that doesn't work, I use a rubber strap wrench like this one which usually gets the spool to turn so I can slowly work it off. And sometimes I just have to damage the spool to get it off. Frustrating I know. Not sure where I got the strap. Probably at Home Depot.

That piece inside the gear wheel looks like the clicker they used on previous reels.

I am curious how you clean them. Do you scale and just gut or filet them? Do you us a regular Rapala like knife or an electric fish knife?

To the seller's credit, they changed the listing and thanked me for advising them.

I laughed when I saw this rare gold cover 710 but also felt frustrated that people don't do research on what they sell or are trying to deceive. I sent the seller a message saying their reel isn't rare nor original. Attached pics of a 710B and 125. Wonder if they will change their listing?

Amazing JP! Must be way more of those silver spools out there. Have never seen a brownish colored button. I wonder if the secret as to why the diamond on the side of some 130s will ever be discovered?

Very nice. Still pretty cold here with ponds still iced over. Maybe in a few weeks can take Grandkids fishing and then see if Coho salmon have moved in closer to shore on Lake Michigan.
