Hi, Dennis!  The Johnson 97 is quite a rare bird.  It strongly resembles the Model 98, but to the best of my knowledge, was never cataloged.  The 98 and, by extension, the 97, were marketed as "budget" or "entry-level reels.  They date from around 1968-70.  Probably could handle line in the 6-10 lb. test range.
