Title: My Used Freedom 440
Post by: Huckster37 on April 29, 2017, 03:36:02 PM
I took it apart to clean & lube and noticed some oddity's. Several Johnson's have an internal adjust drag along with a second external adjust drag. This reel only has the internal drag adjust. It has an anti-reverse spring that reminds me of the 710 and Sabra 130 anti-reverse spring only thinner wire. It also has a "C" clip holding all the parts together on the crank shaft including the Cam follower which attaches to the oscillating yoke. This reel is somewhat hard to find, I rarely see any posted on eBay. The 440 & 420 were only made one year (1982) and probably weren't a big seller.

Nice pictures! Interesting how they kind of came back to that spring anti-reverse wire system.
