So far I've found three Johnson 088A trade reels, this one along with two Wards the "Wards Hawthorne ART. No. 60 6445" and the "Montgomery Ward ART. No. 60 6445".

Do you have any idea what the "ART." on all these Ward reels stands for?

Purely a guess but I have always assumed it was simply the abbreviation for Article.  Like Article No.  60-6446. Spelled out, it took up too much room so they just used the abbreviation. I am thinking a lot of things in their retail store inventory were listed as articles with a number which was some kind of coding. But again, just a guess.

I think that could be a good guess. That one never crossed my mind. I couldn't get past the word art, thanks for broadening my horizons.
